Homes For Sale In Stone Ridge NY

Stone Ridge NY real estate is famous for farmhouses. Stone farmhouses, clapboard farmhouses, modern farmhouses, greek revival farmhouses - if there is a type of farmhouse it is likely that it has been on the real estate market in Stone Ridge throughout the decades we've worked in this beautiful town that's at once considered to be in the Hudson Valley, the Rondout Valley, the Catskills and the Shawangunks - everyone likes to claim Stone Ridge.

It didn’t take Stone Ridge's Main Street Historic District joining the list of the National Register of Historic Places to point out the beauty of Stone Ridge NY. And it’s not only in the official historic district where you’ll be awestruck by the magnificent agrarian architecture; turn down Leggett Road, for example, and you’ll find a group of homes that form an inspirational landscape through historic character and setting that is as beautiful as any place we've ever seen.

Stone Ridge NY History and Lifestyle

Stone Ridge Homes For Sale

Stone Ridge NY is a very special place in Ulster County. Turn off the main road and you’ll find yourself amidst farmland and fields, country estates and cottages. Just to the north are the Thruway and everything else you need in Kingston. Head southeast for the attractions of High FallsRosendale, New Paltz and Gardiner. Stone Ridge provides the lifestyle that so many imagine when the decide to make a move to the Hudson Valley and Catskills regions.

The streets and roads of Stone Ridge have a lot of appeal. Head down Duck Pond Road to see… ducks in the pond! Never was a road more aptly named. Or just roll down Main Street (Route 209) and get a close look at Tack Tavern, the Stone Ridge Library and the black locust trees in front of the Wyncoop House. It's all scenic.

Whole Sky Yoga and Marbletown Community Center are popular spots with locals. Emmanuel’s Marketplace provides groceries without a drive (and yummy salads) - there's also Davenport Farms. In the mornings you might see friends and neighbors while picking up a dozen at Bodacious Bagels and David’s Felafel. Stop by Stone Ridge Orchards for pick-your-own, the farm stand or the cider bar.

Living in Stone Ridge means you might bump into incognito celebrities at Three Phase Center or at Quimby Theater. It means you’ll eat out or get take-out right in the village or nip up to Kingston to pick up something there. In the village choose from breakfast and lunch at Hash Food, sushi or cocktails at Asia, fine dining at Butterfield or bento box at Momiji. The Roost is a local favorite for sandwiches and coffee. When you get a craving for that old-fashioned ice cream stand, check out Cherrie’s. If you’re looking for a dance class or night of music or looking for someone to bake a wedding cake, try Lydia’s.

At the beginning of the 20th century the O&W Railroad displaced the D&H Canal as a way of bringing coal to the region. These days you can hop on the O&W Rail Trail in Stone Ridge right on Marcott Road, where you’ll find a small parking lot and a peaceful trail straight into the woods. The trail leads all the way north to Kingston or south to Ellenville!
