Other outdoor activities in and around Elka Park include skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice-fishing, snowmobiling, biking, camping, fishing, golf and swimming at, among other sites, Dibbles Quarry, an abandoned 19^th-century quarry in the middle of the woods overlooking a valley vista, and Rip Van Winkle Lake, just south of Route 23. 

Culturally Hunter is home to the Catskill Mountain Foundation, a rich local resource and home to arts programs in film, residencies, performance and education. They run the Orpheum Film & Performing Arts Center, Doctorow Center for the Arts, the Piano Performance Museum and the Sugar Maples Center for Creative Arts as well as a "multi-cultural gifts store," the Kaaterskill Shoppe, and a Natural Agriculture farm.
