If you want convenience and an attachment to history in Dutchess County, give Clinton NY real estate a look. You may first think of Clinton as a place you pass through on the road going to or from Poughkeepsie when you want to avoid the traffic. But chances are you've taken that road not only to avoid traffic but because it's pretty, because Clinton is such a beautiful place. The townspeople of Clinton have made efforts to keep it that way.
The roads which appear on a 1867 Clinton town map are now known as "Historic Roads of the Town of Clinton.” Forty-nine Clinton roads hold that designation, and the town has recommended policies to maintain the historic, rustic and rural nature of the town's road system. Stone walls, trees, shrubbery and historic structures are given special consideration in decisions regarding repairing and reconfiguring Clinton’s roads.

There's so much to do in Clinton, NY - it can be hard to decide! Contact one of our Local Experts at Village Green Realty. We'd love to give you our recommendation on the best things to do in Clinton.
One of Clinton's most beautiful structures is the Creek Meeting House. Built during the Revolutionary War, it’s now home to the Clinton Historical Society, which publishes a newsletter and books, operates a local landmarks program and hosts exhibits, music and social events. As with so many historical societies in our area, its website provides much information that helps us appreciate what makes Clinton tick and make connections between the past and present.
Another reason you may find Clinton NY to be your idea of rural heaven is that it's green (in color and ideals)! All seven hamlets in the town have been designated CEAs—Critical Environmental Areas… meaning an extra level of scrutiny in the environmental review process is required for development. The town has joined the Climate Smart Communities Initiative, instituted a Farmland Protection Plan and carried out a habitat mapping project to help citizens develop land-planning strategies that promote development only where it causes the least harm to sensitive habitats and protect ecologically important areas.
Whilst the forward-thinking Clinton folks are making sure their town remains as pristine as it is for years to come, the town offices just north of Schultzville and three town parks—one behind the town offices and the other two in the southern part of town—are carrying on with programs that have sustained the townsfolk for years past, things like summer BBQs, exercise classes, a summer concert series, Little League, mah johgg, the Christmas Tree Bonfire, swimming, book club, summer camp, tennis, soccer, baseball and basketball.
Also on the town office's property is the Clinton Nature Trail, which leads to the Little Wappingers Creek through a wooded wetland where you’re likely to see hawks and catbirds, butterflies, woodpeckers and dragonflies. Sit on a bench by the creek and thank goodness you’re in Clinton!
Being in the town of Clinton NY feels like you’re a million miles from anywhere, but the fact that the Taconic Parkway passes through Clinton with both north- and south-bound exits means, in fact, there’s easy access to everywhere! And although historic homes and historic homes for sale are prevalent in Clinton, Clinton homes for sale also include wonderful contemporaries and architecturally interesting estates.
A recent property listing in the first category was a 1700 farmhouse with a horse barn, paddocks, two ponds, rolling meadows and woods on 60 acres. You might prefer a sleek, modern Clinton Corners home for sale like another recent market favorite that was set on 16+ acres with breathtaking mountain views, studios and guest quarters.
