Patterson NY is a rural town of rolling hills and meadows in Putnam County. As Patterson's real estate experts, we'd love to show you around. Patterson is just a short distance from the Connecticut Border; rural yes, but also both vibrant and full of opportunities to commune with nature and neighbors. One of Patterson’s great advantages is convenience. A Metro North station in the middle of town serves as an artery to the city with trains leaving every thirty minutes during peak hours and every two hours throughout the mid-day and late evening. If you prefer the car, NY State Route 22 runs through Patterson north to the Canadian border and south to Westchester County. Nearby along Route 22 are Daryl’s House Club and the Brewster Ice Arena – there’s fun to be had close-by, north or south.

Patterson offers some unique recreational activities. First, it’s home to the NYC Polo Club at Haviland Hollow Farm. Open year-round for indoor and outdoor sport, the club offers polo leagues, polo lessons for beginners and advanced players, and tournaments at its historic 250-acre farm. The topography of the eastern part of Putnam county lends itself to equestrian purposes; for those looking to ride or board their horses there are several equestrian centers in the area, including River Run Farm and Crossroads Equestrian Center.
Patterson is also home to one of the few ski areas on the east side of the Hudson River. Thunder Ridge is a charming mountain with lessons, “slow and gentle slopes”, and exciting advanced trails. There’s also hiking to be had. The Putnam County Land Trust holds several preserves and parks in Patterson, like the Elena Hill Preserve and the Ice Pond Conservation Area. The cherry on the top of the recreation sundae in Patterson is the town “Rec Center” – it’s a community hub offering programs for all ages.
If your idea of fun includes eating (whose doesn’t?), try Iron and Wine, Tios, or any of the pizza places in Patterson (they’re all pretty good)! There’s also the option of a country drive to nearby New Milford CT, where there are several great restaurants. At Zaragoza you’ll find traditional tapas; at La Piccolina, authentic Northern Italian fare.
Patterson homes for sale might be anything from modern to historic. In fact, there are more than 50 houses in town that are eligible for state historic landmark designation. You might like a mid-1800’s home that’s ready for a historical renovation or a contemporary Patterson property on 135 acres with a private lake, or perhaps you’re hoping to become part of the equestrian community with a horse farm on significant acreage with an antique barn, a pretty house, and gated drive.
