Intro To Fencing

Where: Goshen, NY

Let's start with something completely out of the ordinary! Fencing isn't exactly a common hobby - but it's cool! This is fencing derived from the study of books and treatises of historical fencing masters from Europe. HOW could that NOT be interesting? Plus...swords! Kudos to the Goshen Public Library for having this niche event on their calendar.

Ingrid Nichter: What It Means To Be Human

Where: Saugerties, NY

Do a search for quotes on what it means to be human and you can spend hours contemplating the viewpoints of philosophers, celebs, athletes, and literary greats. Ingrid Nichter has searched for meaning in mixed media. Visit Emerge in Saugerties - while you're there, check out this incredible commercial building we have available for sale. Perhaps you'll want to become Emerge's neighbor....

Yoga At Opus 40

Where: Saugerties, NY

Outdoor yoga is a wonderful thing. Outdoor yoga in front of a world-renowned sculpture park where the only sound is the breathing of your fellow yogis is a recipe for transcendence. Every Wednesday and Saturday Kelli Gilmor leads a one hour vinyasa flow. This is one of those rare events that might turn into a habit.

2023 Exhibitions At Storm King

Where: New Windsor, NY

This season Storm King sculpture park is hosting three guest exhibitions: "The Volcano That Left", Outlooks, and The Sun and The Moon. Storm King is in New Windsor. After you've walked the grounds and explored the exhibits you might want to visit the closest stop on our Hudson Valley Ice Cream Trail - The American House in Chester.

Public History Tours at Mount Gulian

Where: Beacon, NY

Small museums are a great way to get in-depth information on the historical significance of a place - they're a deep-dive in a pleasant package! Mount Gulian in Beacon offers tours of a stone dutch colonial and its barn that take you from the time the Wappinger people used the land seasonally through the civil war and beyond. Spend a chunk of your day here and the rest of the day in Beacon.

Invisible Cities – Community Procession

Where: Chatham, NY

In this community workshop participants collaborate to build giant, creativity-fueled, city-inspired puppets. The workshop culminates in a July 29th live performance. Artists and crafters, come as you are!

Where: Bethel, NY

Outlaw music greats Willie Nelson & Family, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, Gov't Mule, Kathleen Edwards & Particle Kid come together for a day in Bethel. There's no way this won't be a good time.

Twin Star Orchards is a CBVGR favorite. It's fun and pretty and they have corn hole! This event featuring 20 makers of cider, wine, beer, spirits and mead is a collab with Brooklyn Cider House. There's so much to do around New Paltz you can make a day of it, then sample to your hearts content at Twin Star.

Drag Bingo With Murder Mystery Manhattan

Where: Montgomery, NY

Silliness awaits in Montgomery! "Kartrashian Drag Bingo - It’s an interactive night with special guests Kim Kartrashian, Caitlyn Gender, and dragon-lady momager, Kris Gender.   Fake nails fly as these three hilariously call numbers and add their own dirty commentary as they do it."

The Taste of Tea (茶の味, 2004)

Where: Peekskill, NY

Art film fan? "This Japanese comedy-drama was written and directed by Katsuhito Ishii. The plot follows the lives of the Haruno family, who live in a rural town north of Tokyo. The film has been referred to as a surreal version of Ingmar Bergman’s Fanny and Alexander (1982). It was a selection of the Cannes Film Festival and was listed in the 2012 Sight & Sound critics poll as one of the greatest films ever made."

Fuller Moon Arts Festival

Where: Warwick, NY

This one is really appealing to us. "Fuller Moon Arts Festival celebrates the convergence of performance, art and nature with a two-day festival at the magical lakefront setting of Mountain Lake Park, Warwick, NY. Suitable for all ages. For the second year, the festival invites guests to experience interactive art displays set around the park, listen to live music, watch dance performances, and join artists in hands-on making in the park’s art studios. It features a curated artisan maker market, an outdoor bar, and a tasty selection of farm-to-table food prepared by local chefs."
