Yes! It is fall, fall, fall! Upstate, that means that everyone gets an extra bump in energy. The constant sugar-high from all the apples, apple cider doughnuts, and artisanal mac and cheese on offer everywhere plus the crispy air makes for what feels like a brisk six weeks before the holidays set in. Our favorite events take place in late September and October. Everywhere you go there is a tasty treat to be had and a trail to take that is wonderfully different this time of year. This isn't an exhaustive list of what's going on in the coming weeks (by any means) but these are our recommendations for getting the best taste of the region and the season.

From the vibrant harvest festivals like Saugerties' Garlic Festival that pay homage to the bounties of the season, to art walks that give art lovers the chance to explore the towns of the region as they drive while gaining an understanding of the lives and homes of the local artists they admire, September and early October in the Catskills and Hudson Valley promiss an enriching tapestry of experiences to choose from.

Plus...swords! Kudos to the Goshen Public Library for having this niche event on their calendar.

The summer gets rolling in the Catskills and Hudson Valley in June, and there are exciting events of every kind in Greene, Ulster, Columbia, Putnam, Sullivan, Orange, and Dutchess Counties. As fate (luck?) would have it, we featured area history in our monthly newsletter, and there are so many history-related events on the calendar this month. We didn't plan it, but we'll take it! And, of course, with the start of the summer comes the start of all the farmer's markets The Hudson Valley is known for. We've featured just a few here. Looking for the one closest to you? Look for your community on our Hudson Valley and Catskills community information pages - there's a "Farms and Markets" resource for each town. Here's a short list of the many, many
