Strange Love is a new shop on Partition Street in Saugerties that's owned by one of our own - Athena Brown! She's created a brand steeped in positive energy and the joy of finding a unique item to match each unique person. Visit her every time you're in Saugerties.

The Corner Counter
The Corner Counter has been a great addition to the already pretty great Village of Rhinebeck. They style themselves as a "neighborhood shop for cheese, provisions and good eats," - that's a perfect description! This shop combines a bunch of things I love - wonderful wallpaper, tasty, flaky pastries, interesting soups, interesting conversations, and piles of cheese. You know you're going to need some charcuterie plates this holiday season, this is the place for them!

Red Hook Fried Chicken
Wow! This is one we needed. The Hudson Valley has great food all around, what we don't have is enough fried chicken. This new Red Hook shop was opened by the owner of another small business in Red Hook - the Sunoco gas station. He saw a need and filled it. The shop is a no-frills place to pick up a delicious dinner.

Misto Storefront
Misto is a catering company that has offered gluten free foods at pop-ups around the region. We hear they're opening a store!!! Chef Wilson Costa has been awarded "Best Chef" two years in a row by Chronogram Magazine. We can't wait! Here are a few of their past menu items:

Sisters Vanessa Shafer and Cassandra Ruff form the duo that's behind Verse Work/Shop. It's a gallery and a gathering place for Hudson Valley artists to share their work with one another and the community. They're in their soft opening stage right now. This business isn't "new, new" however stationary stores are so few and far between these days we want to support them. Is there anything better than the smell of paper? Nope! You need to stop into this shop and be enchanted by notebooks, cards, stamps, ribbon, and stickers. Put your phone away and hang out for 15 minutes. We promise you'll leave with new ideas and a new notebook to jot them in.

Red Star Cafe opened about a year ago to rave reviews. (Cairo has choices!) Red Star is known for their coffee, cappuccino, and teas as well as their large selection of pastries, muffins and the cruffin! Try it! They also make great lunch sandwiches. Yum!

Damn Good Honey, which we mentioned in our recent Beekeeping article has opened a store! They sell their honey of course but they also sell locally made skincare products and all-occasion party favors from their board and batten clad cabin store. Stop in - it's sweet! (We couldn't help ourselves!)

Harana Market
This unique market sells both Asian Groceries and Filipino Food. Formerly located in Woodstock, they decided to move down to Accord when their lease was up on the Woodstock space. Lower Ulster County is psyched. Their food is storied and they are one of the very few places to get Asian cooking staples around. Visit them in their new space!

Urban Fork is Kingston's new comfort food central! One of their recent specials was a chicken and stuffing waffle with cranberry syrup. Its East Chester Street location is something you probably won't walk by on a window shopping trip so make the special effort to get there OR you can go to their new second location on Wall Street! The Falcon isn't a new venue but it is under new ownership. Original owner Tony Falco's son has taken over. We wanted to officially wish him great good luck in a venue we all love as he carries on the tradition of bringing great music to The Hudson Valley!
