West Kill is a great place to live if you don’t have to get anywhere in a hurry or if you love hiking or skiing or just being in the middle of a gigantic wilderness area. Spruceton Road is essentially all of the hamlet, trailing east from its intersection with Route 42 about eight miles more or less alongside the West Kill Creek into the Spruceton Valley 'til it winds down at the Hunter and West Kill mountain trailheads. On the way you’ll pass the Spruceton Inn and West Kill Brewing, both situated on old farmland. That’s about it, which is nice.

There's so much to do in West Kill, NY - it can be hard to decide! Contact one of our Local Experts at Village Green Realty. We'd love to give you our recommendation on the best things to do in West Kill.
Getting to West Kill, you take Route 28 to Route 42 and then go seven miles over a rather impressive mountain notch; when you reach the bottom of the hill, take a right. Or you can come over from Lexington, on Route 23A; that’s a rather flatter and less intimidating ride in winter… though you are in mountainous territory no matter how you approach West Kill. That’s what I meant about not being in a hurry to leave once you arrive at West Kill, especially in winter. But don’t misunderstand me; I love West Kill.
If you have big ideas about building a West Kill home on a private paradise, or if you have the lovely idea of buying a large plot of West Kill real estate to save it from development, you might want to look at a 200+-acre parcel abutting state land with Route 42 road frontage, logging roads and healthy oak, maple and white pine trees amidst 20 acres of virgin forest full of deer, bear, turkey and other wildlife friends. If you want to move right in there’s a pristine, super-private and quiet West Kill farmhouse for sale where you can jump into your in-ground pool surrounded by perennial gardens and West Kill mountain views.
If you love the idea of living in a hamlet that seems not to have changed for 100 years, you’ll love West Kill. A Coldwell Banker Village Green Realty agent will help you find the right home there.
