Homes For Sale In Warwick NY

The Town of Warwick is well-known for its wineries, distilleries, orchards, shops and restaurants, farmer’s market, antiques and annual cultural events, like the Summer Arts Festival, Summer Concert Series on Railroad Green and the Applefest. But Warwick is also treasured for its natural beauty—its forested hillsides, crop rows, orchards and livestock grazing in the fields. Over 4,000 acres of farmland and open space have been preserved by the town in perpetuity, assuring the everlasting beauty of this part of Orange County's Black Dirt Region, known for its superbly fertile soil. That’s both forward thinking and historic!

Warwick’s quaint architecture is another draw to the attractive town. The Warwick Village Historic District has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1984 and comprises most of the older parts of the village. The oldest structure is the 1764 Shingle House, which shares a property with the circa-1825 Sly Barn and the 1890 Lehigh and Hudson River Railway Caboose No. 81. The Sly Barn and its original stone foundation were moved from a local farm nearby; inside are period agricultural tools, two horse-drawn carriages and antique sleighs. Other charming relics of Warwick’s history are Baird’s Tavern, from 1766; the circa-1840 Hasbrouck Carriage House; and the 1810 house, home to the Warwick Historical Society’s curator. These historic buildings watch over today's vibrant village.

Warwick Homes For Sale

Buyers of Warwick NY homes for sale will find themselves part of its vibrant community in no time. Practically historic is the Warwick Valley Farmers Market, which has been held rain or shine from May through November for nearly 30 years and ranked as one of the finest in the country, featuring local produce, wines, cheese, baked goods, and the chance to gossip and plan meals with the neighbors you meet there! At one time the Warwick area was known for its deeply flavorful black-dirt onion, but these days you're just as likely to see radishes, potatoes, tomatoes, lettuce, carrots and, increasingly, hemp grown and sold locally. Here’s a list of some of the vendors, like Jean-Claude’s Bakery, Woodside Blue Preserves and Drowned Lands Brewery.

What else does one do in Warwick? Besides browsing the village's shops and enjoying the local fare, there are downhill ski areas, golf courses, hiking trails and Wickham Lake. The Appalachian Trail itself runs through Warwick, featuring a hawk-watching area where birders get a birds-eye-view of hawk migrations. One of Warwick’s prized recreational areas is the Madison Lewis Woodlands, where visitors walk and shelter beneath beautiful trees. There are lots of public parks in Warwick that offer opportunities for skateboarding, soccer, playground play, basketball, picnicking and horseback riding; one of them is the Thomas P. Morahan Waterfront Park at Greenwood Lake, Orange County’s biggest body of fresh water.
