Homes For Sale In Town of Ulster NY

You may think of the Town of Ulster as the place where you go for the big-box stores, the place with one of the few bowling alleys in the area. You might identify the Town of Ulster with your shopping trips to Adams Fairacre Farms for garden supplies or Mother Earth for groceries or to Bread Alone for fresh bread and Irving Farm coffee.

But did you realize you’re in the Town of Ulster when you drive southwest from Kingston on Route 213 along the Rondout Creek towards Eddyville or when you cycle along Ruby Road? Or how about when you’re saying hi to the bison at Thruview Farm on Old King’s Highway? That’s the Town of Ulster, too. (For some reason, most people don’t call it Ulster; it always seems to be referred to as the Town of Ulster.)

There are many farms and historic properties in the Town of Ulster, which was created in 1879—the newest town in the county—in protest against some practices in the town of Kingston’s then-government. It turned out to be a good move, as there was a thriving business community already in place on the Rondout Creek in Eddyville, one of nine current hamlets in the town. So, a lot of the historic structures in the Town of Ulster NY are down by the water.
