Homes For Sale In Livingston Manor NY

Livingston Manor is all about what to do outside and how to relax after you’ve done it. This happening hamlet in the Town of Rockland NY is like so many in Sullivan County, which you’ll find is a place of wild forests and lovely rivers with tiny dots of civilization here and there.

“A small mountain town with a huge back yard” in the southwest corner of the Catskill Park, Livingston Manor boasts world-class trout-fishing streams, hiking, waterfalls, lakes and ponds and a vibrant community in “the land of little rivers.” Two streams—the famed Willowemoc Creek and the Beaverkill, plus their spring-fed tributaries—provide what the place is most famous for, fly fishing, and the 53 acres of the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum (comprising the Museum, the Wulff Gallery & Heritage Craft Center, gift shop, bunkhouses, a covered pavilion, casting field, pond, trail system and river access) are a focus for all those who flock to the area for their favorite sport. Even if you’re not an enthusiast, they welcome you to enjoy the grounds; you can still appreciate swimming or wading in or simply being near the beautiful, unspoiled streams.

The other important fly fishing center here is the Wulff School of Fly Fishing, one of the most highly esteemed in the U.S. Lee Wulff popularized fly fishing to the TV audience in the early days of American Sportsman. Joan Wulff started as a schoolgirl in casting competitions and today is the leading female fly fisherman in the world.
