Step into a piece of Hudson Valley history. This remarkable estate spans 6.7 private acres, home to a beautifully preserved historic residence. Pass through the gated entrance and follow a private, stone wall-lined drive as it winds toward this testament to early American craftsmanship. Built in 1775 by Jonas Freer Jr. - grandson of Hugo Freer, one of the twelve original New Paltz patentees - this stone house remained in the same family through the 1880s, passing from Jonas to his son Elias, and then to his grandson Stephen. The 1,828-square-foot residence displays authentic period living at its finest: gorgeous wide plank floors that have weathered generations, exposed wood beams overhead, and a wood burning fireplace that nods to its historical character while anchoring the heart of the home. The welcoming foyer, complete with a convenient powder room, opens to a first-floor primary suite with full bath to the left (a rare luxury for a house of this age) while the gracious living spaces unfold to the right. Upstairs, three additional bedrooms share a family bath, while a full basement provides practical utility. Modern conveniences balance seamlessly with period charm throughout. From the living/dining great room, step through a Dutch door onto a stone patio overlooking a serene pond where the incredible grounds reveal themselves. This beautifully landscaped sanctuary features unusual varieties of trees, shrubs, and plants that create a botanical showcase through every season. The detached 600-square-foot garage offers more than simple storage. Above it, a seasonal two-bedroom guest suite awaits visiting family, summer overflow, or presents potential rental income.
