Things To Do In Upstate New York! Being in the Real Estate biz, we're plugged into the event scene across the many counties of the Hudson Valley and Catskills region. We love all the creativity we're seeing! It seems that our neighbors spent the quiet pandemic time coming up with new and different ways for us to have fun together (without discarding the best of the old ways). We shout, "hooray" for Painting With Ponies, a no-phone music and camping festival, and a nighttime market featuring "exotic oddities". We've culled together a list of concerts, festivals, fairs, farmer's markets, and other happening events in the Hudson Valley and Catskills for summer 2022 that we're excited for. We hope to see you at some of them! Look for the Coldwell Banker

Where To Launch Kayaks In The Hudson Valley

Experts in Real Estate, Experts in Landscape

We live in one of the most magnificent regions of the world. On the rare occasions when we have the opportunity to see the Hudson Valley from the air, it's impossible not to be impressed with the big picture; the majestic river that built our towns and commerce, the surrounding valley, and the hills and mountains around it. We live in the midst of a seventh grade geography lesson. Get far enough off the ground on a crystal clear day and you'll begin to see the incredible system of beautiful waterways that feed the Hudson. Wonderful. And when we're earth-bound again we’re blessed with daily chances to not just be near the rivers, lakes and streams that have carved out our landscape, but to be on them!

Great Tacos In The Hudson Valley

When exploring the Hudson Valley and Catskills regions it's not a bad idea to have a goal, or a guide. How's this for a worthy quest? Eat as many tacos, in as many cool towns up and down the valley as you can. I mean, who doesn't love a taco - or six? Whether you like them soft shell, crisp shell, corn or flour, there's a taco, or twenty, for you! And tacos are THE perfect food-tour food! They're small, and they're usually served up fast, so you can sample a taco at each taco stop and it will be ages before you begin to feel like it's all a little too much. That is, as long as you don't wash each taco down with a Margarita.

New Paltz Real Estate has so much to offer buyers; from the great restaurants, to community events, SUNY New Paltz, the rail trail, local farms and orchards, and the Ulster County Fairgrounds. Amidst all of these attractions it would almost be possible to miss the Wallkill River winding it's way beneath Main Street on the west side of town, if it weren't for the beauty and calm the river seems to extend out into the village beyond, making New Paltz a very special town indeed.

For thousands of years the Wallkill River has fed Ulster and Orange Counties. Now you can feed your senses on the banks of the river that Native Americans called the Twischsawkin. The river has been used by farmers, industrialists, naturalists, vacationers and indigenous

Horseback Riding in The Hudson Valley

Hudson Valley Hunter Pace Candida Ellis

All my life I was completely obsessed with horses. When I was a child, growing up in England, all I wanted was a rocking horse. I never got one.

Stop. This is not going to be the whiny story of my sad inner child, fed only with hand-me-down toys. It is, in fact, a story of realized dreams.

When a rocking horse wasn’t forthcoming, I downgraded my expectations somewhat and asked for a hobby horse. You remember those; a stick with a stuffed animal horse head on the end? I never got one of those either.

Fortunately I have a Dad who loved to ride and found a way to combine his Daddy duties with his favorite pastime. I was often the only (very tiny) child on a wild adult ride, galloping behind on my

Amidst an election that made people uncertain of the future and caused many to be distracted from their personal goals, the real estate market soldiered on in 2016, and finished with a bright outlook. Forbes Magazine provided a very concise summary of what happened nationally, "...on balance 2016 was a pretty good year for housing. National prices finally crossing the previous 2006 peak, mortgage rates remained historically low and there were some signs that Millennials, a generation which some feared would never buy homes, are beginning to enter the market. Through it all the election loomed large. In 2017 we'll see how profound its effects."

Regionally 2016 might be called "The Year of The Hudson Valley"

There was a rash of articles

"Highest and Best" – Narrowsburg Party Property For Sale - Orange County NY Real Estate

In real estate we often talk about the “Highest and Best” use for a property. for example there might be a multi-family home in a commercial district that would make more money for its owner if it were converted into a restaurant or retail space. Highest and Best. One of my favorite things to do is to imagine how a home will be used. Imagining keeps me from serial homeownership! So, I think “Highest and Best” for all the homes we list. 6157 NYS Route 97 presented a bit of a challenge. Not because I couldn’t come up with a “Highest and Best” use, but because I thought of too many! But they fit a pattern. My “Highest and Best” use for this Narrowsburg NY country

Perfect springtime activities for children in the Catskills and Hudson Valley.

Last weekend my family took a trip to Washington DC to see all the monuments and go the Smithsonian Museum of Art and the Native American Museum. It was great! My husband and I totally enjoyed it and my 10-year-old daughter only became antsy when I marveled at the Dutch Masters for too long and then got sucked into an opera concert rehearsal we happened to stumble upon 3 minutes later.

(a little F.D.R. wisdom from our trip - pertinent to an article about kids outdoors!)

Her waning enthusiasm reminded me of the last time I had visited DC. I was 12 years old.

  • I remember being miserable.
  • I remember being HOT.
  • I remember being incensed

Orange County New Construction - Make Your Own Miracle

Miracle on 34th Street. It's a heartwarming classic. I have to admit though that it is not my  favorite Holiday movie. But there is a moment in it that I love. At the end, when they drive up to the house... and it's perfect. It's not a mansion, it's not wildly unusual, it's a home. And Susan LOVE'S IT. I get it. In that moment Susan and I are sympatico. There's nothing like a home.

Who wouldn't love that house? It's in a neighborhood that looks like it's safe to ride a bike in. It has a yard, and from that yard you can see down the street to other yards where there will likely be someone to play with, share tools with, compare pet behavior with, and say "Hi" to at the Post
