Coldwell Banker Village Green Realty held its 2020 awards ceremony today. In a year when our business, which has always been built around handshakes, getting to know one another while driving country country roads, and giving hugs on closing day was turned upside-down, our agents pivoted and achieved. We are so proud.

A Year of Accolades

2020 was a banner year for accolades at Coldwell Banker Village Green Realty. Coldwell Banker awarded Village Green the honor of becoming part of Coldwell Banker's Chairman's Circle. Coldwell Banker's Chairman's Circle is reserved for Coldwell Banker affiliates in the Top 1% of Coldwell Banker affiliates worldwide.

CBVGR was also voted Hudson Valley Magazine's "Best Real Estate Firm Of The Hudson

I've noticed something about a lot of our clients - boy are they moving fast! Our clients are buying and selling homes at what feels like warp speed to them; from offer to closing day is a blur, and suddenly it's time to move in and "make it home".

When you're making a move it can be hard to plan out your new space during the blur of closing prep. And because so many people are moving in order to have the space they never knew they needed before, they have lots of space to fill up with comfort on closing day but often don't have enough of their own furnishings to fill that space. You've all heard the warnings about just "Ikea-ing" the heck out of your new home. Heed them! You don't want to look around after a month in your new house and wonder who

(Oh, how the photo above warms our heart - handmade snowshoes, snow, pretty trees, silent woods. Don't worry - we're not going to send you to rent these kind of snowshoes tough; just look at those bindings! These are here for the ambiance. Read on for where to rent snowshoes that reliably stay ON your feet.)

Please raise your hand if you are so, so tired of being cooped up inside...I'm imagining hands going up from Southern New Jersey to Albany.

The state of our social lives has kept us inside this year and I'll be the first to admit that it's getting to be a real drag. Sometimes the ski resorts are booked and as a last-minute planner I'm left without a lift ticket and avoiding the lodge and large groups of people takes a commitment I don't

5 New Years Resolutions

(That Can Only Be Completed In Upstate NY!)

How was your 2020? I know, let’s not talk about it, right?! Instead, let’s look forward with real excitement to 2021 and all we can accomplish! I’m really inspired to move on and get busy enjoying a new year.

Of course, I have the standard New Year’s resolutions: Workout every day, stop eating sugar, good old standards like that. But along with the ordinary goals I set myself the task of making a few resolutions that befit a "Local Expert" in the Hudson Valley and Catskills Real Estate. Goals that can only be accomplished right here in Upstate, NY. These goals will help me root myself even deeper in the Catskills and Hudson Valley in new ways, and they're fun!

Coldwell Banker Village Green Realty Partnership with The Kingston Design Connection

The 2020 Kingston Design Showhouse

This week I chatted with Maryline Damour, the creative inspiration behind the 2020 Kingston Design Showhouse and a partner at Damour Drake, a design and construction company based in the Hudson Valley. We talked about, amongst other things, pulling together the showhouse in the time of COVID, Maryline’s efforts to keep Hudson Valley interior design in front of the media and the exciting 3D Matterport tour created for the Kingston Design Connection by Coldwell Banker Village Green Realty’s on-staff videographer so anyone can virtually walk through the showhouse online.

Things To Do In The Catskills & Hudson Valley 2020

Events in The Catskills & Hudson Valley

Our calendar isn't nearly as packed as it normally is this time of year, but that makes each event a bit more exciting!

Phoenicia Festival Of The Voice | Kingston, NY | August 29th

The Phoenicia Festival of the Voice is usually a several day celebration of songs of all types. This year, the organizers wisely retooled the event to a single big production of Puccini's Tosca, done drive-in style. Way to be creative and combine high brow opera with down-home nostalgia! The event has been moved to Kingston's Tech City campus which can accommodate up to 600 cars filled with opera lovers. Super fun - Super safe!

One of the best things about being a Real Estate agent is that it's part of my job to know what's going on in the towns and villages that I serve. I love that. Not only do I dig being "in the know", but I love having a reason to perk up and take notice when people's dreams come true. In the past few months I've seen a lot of dreams come to fruition in the form of new businesses; I want to share them with you. Try them out! See what you think! Opening can be hard and every new customer can make a difference.

Here's my list of new spots to check out in January:

Hickory Hill Market in Windham

It might seem odd to start with a gas station, but everyone in Windham is loving the Hickory Hill Market. They have gas and the other little

Great Tacos In The Hudson Valley

When exploring the Hudson Valley and Catskills regions it's not a bad idea to have a goal, or a guide. How's this for a worthy quest? Eat as many tacos, in as many cool towns up and down the valley as you can. I mean, who doesn't love a taco - or six? Whether you like them soft shell, crisp shell, corn or flour, there's a taco, or twenty, for you! And tacos are THE perfect food-tour food! They're small, and they're usually served up fast, so you can sample a taco at each taco stop and it will be ages before you begin to feel like it's all a little too much. That is, as long as you don't wash each taco down with a Margarita.
