The REAL Gilded Age: America’s Elite in the Downton Abbey Era
Where: Staatsburg, New York
This tour highlights the real-life characters and themes at Staatsburgh that parallel Downton Abbey and HBO’s The Gilded Age. Led by a costumed interpreter, the tour shows how servants and the Mills family conducted a busy weekend of high society entertaining, comparing Staatsburgh to what viewers saw on TV. Reservations required.
Department Of Theatre Arts: EVERYBODY
Where: New Paltz, New York
Everybody is a modern riff on the 15th century morality play Everyman. Everybody is chosen from the cast by lottery at each performance, which plays up the randomness of death and the universality of the human condition; Everybody journeys through what’s considered life’s greatest mystery – the meaning of living while at the same time being “wildly funny.”
