Miracle on 34th Street. It's a heartwarming classic. I have to admit though that it is not my  favorite Holiday movie. But there is a moment in it that I love. At the end, when they drive up to the house... and it's perfect. It's not a mansion, it's not wildly unusual, it's a home. And Susan LOVE'S IT. I get it. In that moment Susan and I are sympatico. There's nothing like a home.

Who wouldn't love that house? It's in a neighborhood that looks like it's safe to ride a bike in. It has a yard, and from that yard you can see down the street to other yards where there will likely be someone to play with, share tools with, compare pet behavior with, and say "Hi" to at the Post Office. Neighborhoods like that are always in towns where great stuff is happening all the time. They just are.

Last spring, when I first took a tour of Harness Estates in Goshen, NY I thought, "Ah, this is a Miracle on 34th Street neighborhood; and these are modern day Miracle on 34th Street houses. It doesn't matter if you have a Susan or how big or small your family unit is, these houses and this place feel like a home.

Don't you wish Santa Clause was bringing you one of these? A house with a view? A house in a neighborhood with winding streets on top of a hill. At the bottom of that hill is a wonderful Village filled with shops, cafe's, parks, a library, a hardware store and everything you need to build a life. The Village of Goshen is just an hour and a half from New York City, so if part of your plan includes commuting, you can do it daily with little trouble.
