Homes For Sale In Narrowsburg NY

If you plan your moves by looking at the map, you’ll be drawn to Narrowsburg for its dynamic site at a u-turn bend of the Delaware River. And for a heavenly drive there come up Route 97 from Port Jervis, meandering along the winding river, which forms part of the border between New York and Pennsylvania. Before you leave Port Jervis take a moment at the Park Avenue Observatory to get your first good look at the river.

You’ll see several outposts of Landers River Trips as you go, where you can rent rafts, canoes, kayaks or tubes for a fun float along the lovely Delaware and/or camp at one of their sites. Equally attractive are Cedar Rapids Campground and Indian Head Canoes, where the river passes through foothills of the Catskill Mountains. Bring along your binoculars and watch for the eagle viewing sites marked with signs along the river. And check out the Roebling’s Delaware Aqueduct, the oldest wire suspension bridge in the nation.

When you arrive in Narrowsburg, take a roll or a stroll along the main street, where you’ll find plenty of appealing browsing opportunities in the many antique shops, boutiques, bookstores and jewelers. The town has become somewhat chic in the last few years, but don’t worry, it’s still got plenty of good old Sullivan County NY to it.

If you’re ready for a little something, you’ll enjoy having your cake and eating it, too… that is to say savoring food and drink whilst imbibing the atmosphere of the Delaware’s “big eddy,” the deepest spot in the river. Right on Narrowsburg’s main drag are the Heron—you’ll want a reservation here—and Tusten Cup, both with small porches out back; at Tusten Cup, enjoy a coffee and homemade dessert or one of the best egg-and-cheese sandwiches you’ll get anywhere. Not far away is The Laundrette, with a larger, charming outdoor seating area where the river is wide and a few tasty cocktails, beers on tap and some special pizzas, salads and snacks. (A reservation wouldn’t be wasted here, either.)

More into working out than sitting still watching the water? Then you’ll want to drop into Chi Hive for yoga, Pilates or just to use the gym. Then again, if you’d rather stay outdoors for your exercise--and who wouldn’t in this neck of the woods--check out the Fitness Trail at Narrowsburg’s Multigenerational Park. If you have a basketball in the car, you can throw that around there, too!

Saturdays in Narrowsburg NY mean the Farmers Market, where you’ll find anything from mushrooms to hard cider, baked goods to pottery, organic veggies to hand-crafted bowls. A very special local artisan is Charles Hadley Blanchard, the Dyberry Weaver, creating one-of-a-kind rugs, bags and more, integrating weaving techniques learned the world over.

Then there’s the Sullivan County Arts Council’s Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, hosting art, theater, music, dance and film events, classes and workshops, including the Big Eddy Film Festival, held at the Art Deco Tusten Theater. So even though it feels like the middle of nowhere in a good way, there’s plenty of art and culture to go around. We haven’t even mentioned the Buck Brook Alpaca Farm and the curated books at One Grand. Take it from us, there’s lots to do in Narrowsburg NY. Have fun!

What more could you want than having a beautiful natural resource like the Delaware River close by and a charming and hip little town where you’ll meet old friends and new? There are Narrowsburg NY homes for everyone here.

For instance, a two-bedroom, 1.5-bath, 1,250-square-foot, one-year-old Narrowsburg home for sale is the perfect combo of design, location and quality: the low carbon footprint, radiant heat, poured concrete floors and locally sourced exterior and interior walls combined with a fantastic outdoor heated cedar hot tub add up to happy! To top it all off, it’s totally private, and the Delaware River is not far away through the woods.

If you need more space, not far from the Tusten Mountain Trail, for those who enjoy a bit of a woodland hike, there’s a four-bedroom, two-bath Narrowsburg NY farmhouse not 15 years old in a park-like setting with 3,000 square feet of living space. The home features a perfect rocking-chair porch where you’ll enjoy your morning coffee whilst listening to the birds; a lovely clean interior of nicely proportioned rooms downstairs and a pine-paneled series of rooms upstairs; a good-sized partially fenced back yard off the back deck; a two-car garage and nice shed for all your outdoor tools and machines.

Now we’re talking: Build your own Narrowsburg NY home on the Delaware River, a mostly level plot of Narrowsburg real estate with some mature trees that slopes to the river's edge with about 50 feet of water frontage. Very pretty!
