Woodstock Area Meals On Wheels
Once a week we like to take a moment to recognize one of the many local organizations our agents work with. We’re proud to share our communities and our time with them.
We've made it through the Holiidays. Nothing feels better than giving, right? Giving by becoming a volunteer for a not-for-profit organization can be a wonderful way to help your community and make you feel great. Is there any better pick-me-up than giving something to someone who truly needs it? It's so much better than that feeling you get when you watch your Father-In-Law unwrap what is basically the same holiday sweater you gave him last year, and place it on the stack of similar sweaters he’s gotten from everyone else. That’s not giving! That’s burdening an already overflowing closet!
Want to do some real giving? Then you need to find the right place to exercise your volunteering muscles. Here’s just one suggestion for those of us in the Woodstock, NY area.
Meals on Wheels.
Ellen Osgood, a R.E. Salesperson in our Woodstock Office has been Co-President of the organization since 2007 and has been a driver since 1999.
What’s Their Mission?
Every day Woodstock Area Meals on Wheels delivers hundreds of meals to house-bound elderly and disabled neighbors. There is a suggested donation for meals and the organization also accepts private donations. Several local civic and church groups support Meals on Wheels through their contributions and fund raising efforts. All meals are prepared in the kitchen of the Dutch Reformed Church of Woodstock, meeting all of the standards of the Ulster County Health Department.
How Can You Help?
The volunteers at Meals on Wheels Woodstock bring not only food but cheer and a little companionship to people who can’t make it out-and-about very often. Volunteers can either serve as drivers, volunteering on a weekday to deliver meals to a set route of recipients. Volunteers can also serve as kitchen aides helping to prep meals at the Dutch Reformed Church of Woodstock.
If you are interested in volunteering, please call the Woodstock Meals on Wheels Kitchen, Monday thru Friday from 8:00 to 11:00 @ 845-679-4656. If you don't have the time to spare but would like to help with a donation, you can send your tax-deductible check to:
