Hudson Valley Artists | The Wired Gallery

I love buying Art by Hudson Valley Artists. Let's be honest, I love buying Art! Whenever I get into a discussion about what I spend my money on (which happens far more often than you'd think, and usually directly follows someone skeptically giving my outfit du jour an incredulous look) I answer, "Art, Theatre Tickets, and renovating my "ranchie-ranch". I like to feel connected to the artists I buy somehow. I really like buying art by people I have a shared experience with, sometimes it's just a shared geography (I feel the same about my literature). For the past ten years all the Coldwell Banker Village Green Realty offices have been a "Gallery at Work". We have invited local artists to hang their pieces in our offices, hosted openings for them, and loved the spirit their art has brought into our workplace. However, this is an occupational hazard for me. I go to work, I spend all the money I make buying the art off the walls! Here's just one of my walls that I've packed to bursting largely with local art purchased from one of our shows!

Up until recently all our "Gallery At Work" spaces have been curated by volunteer agents. We've got a lot of art lovers in our ranks. A couple of months ago we were approached by a new venture - Wired Gallery with a fantastic partnership idea. The Wired Gallery has a physical gallery in High Falls at 11 Mohonk Road in High Falls. In addition to that gallery they've begun to curate the gallery at Coldwell Banker Village Green's Stone Ridge location. Last month Wired Gallery held a dual opening at both locations. It was a huge success. The work of Mary Anne Erickson is being featured in our office.

To say I love her work is an understatement. I've been coveting one of her pieces since it was used as the cover from Chronogram Magazine a couple of years ago. Here's an interview they did with her when that was published about her work and a little about her business, my favorite place to eat quickly, Bistro To Go (crazy delicious, healthy and to-go!).

I'm a fan...to put it mildly. When I walked into our office and saw her work hanging there, right before my very eyes, I literally squealed - to the great amusement of our Managing Director, Candida Ellis who knew I was going to freak out! Below is a photo of Mary Ann and our Broker/Owner Joan Lonergan at the opening. Sorry for the black and white, but the colors of the photo WERE NOT doing Mary Anne's incredible paintings justice! The event was a blast, art lovers took a little country drive between the beautiful towns of Stone Ridge and High Falls and saw some great art. If you missed it - here's the full photo gallery.

Of course we're really excited about the partnership, hosting events that create community is always worthwhile. But, here's the best thing about The Wired Gallery, they've done something I've been wishing someone would do for years, they've opened an online gallery that features Hudson Valley Artists. No more searching Etsy and Ebay for hours for Hudson Valley Artists and Catskills Artists. If you can't make it into our Stone Ridge Office you can go to The Wired Gallery online and look at Mary Anne's paintings, read her bio, and purchase her work right on the site. Right now they're featuring about 20 different Hudson Valley Artists. This is so great! I love going to galleries, but now I can shop for Hudson Valley Art in my jammies at midnight from a reputable gallery. If you're not in the position to spend thousands on art they've got a great affordable art page with pieces under $250.

The next show at Village Green will be a solo show by painter and photographer Joan Barker, “Latest Works”, read her bio here.  Also opening at the Wired Gallery will be a solo show by sculptor Lenny Kislin. Both shows will have their opening receptions on July 19, 5-7pm.

We'll keep you posted about new shows we have coming up in conjunction with The Wired Gallery but in the meantime put on your jammies, grab a beverage of choice and search surf the work of some incredible Hudson Valley Artists on The Wired Gallery.

Fair warning - you're going to find something you can't resist! I'm thinking this would look super over my fireplace.
